How To Honor a Difficult Mom

We are supposed to honor our mothers on Mother’s Day, but what exactly does that mean? How do we honor difficult or “bad” mothers in a way that’s Biblical? Can we live a life that pleases God without necessarily having to honor our parents?
In this special Mother’s Day episode, Dr. Richard Caldwell and special guest Stuart Sanders remind us that the command from God to honor our parents is non-negotiable. They exhort us to be patient and merciful, absorbing offense and mistreatment, even when it’s our mothers that are the cause of our pain and suffering.

Dr. Caldwell and Stuart Sanders take this issue a step further and discuss how we can teach children to honor their parents. They also explain the role of the church in equipping mothers and children with truth from God’s Word, and then ensuring that those truths are being applied. Finally, they explain how the church can minister to those women that long to be mothers, but aren’t able to bear children. Is it insensitive of us to honor mothers when there are so many women hurting because of their inability to have children?

This question and others are addressed in this brief podcast, as Dr. Richard Caldwell and Stuart Sanders take us to God’s Word.
