My Spouse Was Unfaithful, Should I Get a Divorce?

‌My spouse was unfaithful, should i get a divorce?‌ What does the Bible say about divorce? What do I do if my spouse has sinned against me by committing adultery? Do I have a right to divorce my spouse if he/she has been sexually unfaithful?

In this podcast, Dr. Richard Caldwell and special guest Dr. Ken Ramey address these weighty issues in light of Scripture. They discuss the role of forgiveness and compassion in a marriage where even the most heinous sins have been committed.

After speaking to the issue of divorce itself, Dr. Caldwell and Dr. Ramey take a step back and explore marriage in its larger context – as a picture of the relationship between God and His people, the church. Using this Scriptural analogy, they explain that, in a spiritual sense, we are all adulterers; yet God is consistently faithful to love and forgive us. His desire is to hold onto us forever, not divorce us or put us away. What does this mean for our marriages? What does this teach us about divorce as an option for our lives?  All of these questions are addressed in this brief podcast, as Dr. Richard Caldwell and Dr. Ken Ramey take us to God’s Word.

  1. I recently had a talk with a co worker about this subject, and it’s such a tough subject. Can you touch on remarriage as a follow up to this video?
If you have a mother with kids, mid 30s, no job, her husband’s is a habitual cheater, and they file for divorce, is she able to rightfully remarry? Or not? And how do you justify remarrying or not?
